Inferno

It's Tuesday and I'm not up to writing anything about sports or wagering this morning. As this blog grows and becomes a branch of the website, this blog will take on a few meanings - at least that's the plan.

It looks as if the inferno in Southern California may be the biggest story of the day across the land. If this fire was near New York City - the media would be covering it wall-to-wall. Certainly you've seen the pictures out of Southern California - it's shocking and a real shame.

We had some huge wild fires near Las Vegas a few years back and I had the privilege to volunteer to feed and bring aid to the young people who work to contain these blazes. I must tell you that it's unreal what these fire fighters go through, I can still recall sitting around the camp and listening to their harrowing stories when they could be relieved and take a short break.

The California wildfire is impacting the weather here in Las Vegas as the smoke has filled our skies the last few days. Our skies are usually very clear. As you can see in the above photo - taken yesterday - it's tough to see and breathe in Las Vegas. That's pure smoke. The way I see it - Today's forecast calls for partly smoky skies and a high reaching near 104 degrees.

In Southern California - it's considerably hotter. Good luck California.
