Greg's Private Plays have been on fire. Greg has lost just two of his last 13 Private Play selections. Here is the exact writeup from Tuesday.

My Private Play for Tuesday Major League Baseball is the Philadelphia Phillies.

PHILADELPHIA -145 (Martinez)
AT
WASHINGTON (Lannan)
7:05 pm Eastern

The Phillies just got swept by Houston this weekend and they'll be a bit grumpy. Washington offers the perfect remedy. Washington has lost eight of their last nine games and 16 of their last 20. They are a dependable "go against" team. My first thought was, "Philadelphia always beats Washington". Hmmm, perhaps that was my fourth thought. Then, I looked it up and saw that I was correct - the Phillies have won their last seven against the Nationals. Pedro Martinez looks to follow his masterful performance in beating Tim Lincecum and the Giants in a 2-1 victory last Thursday. The Phillies have won all five of Pedro's starts and he carries a 23-3 strikeout-walk ratio into this start. Philadelphia has also won its last six games in which it has faced John Lannan. Lannan is 0-5 with a 5.89 ERA in seven career outings against the Phillies. Lannan is 0-1 with a 7.97 ERA in his last four starts. He gave up five runs over five innings last Tuesday in a 7-0 loss to San Diego. I'm betting that Philadelphia breaks their losing streak tonight.

Did you know? The Nationals are 3-15 in Lannan's last 18 starts during Game One of a series.

WINNER Philadelphia 5 Washington 3

My next Private Play will be delivered late Wednesday morning.
