Yesterday's Private Play

Here is the exact Private Play that members received yesterday. I post it here today because many long-time members have never looked in on Greg's Private Play service. Greg Allen takes great pride in his well-researched plays.

From Tuesday:
My Private Play for Tuesday is the New York Yankees minus the runs.

NEW YORK YANKEES -1.5 runs (Sabathia)
OVER
OAKLAND ATHLETICS (Mazzaro)
10:05 pm Eastern

For those of you with a stronger fortitude, the Yankees are -225 on the money line. The Yankees are playing great baseball and they've won 24 of their last 32 games. In 19 of their last 20 wins, the Yankees have won by at least two runs. That catches my attention today as the Yankees go against an Oakland squad that they've beat in nine of the last 11 contests. All seven games this season between these clubs have been decided by two runs or more. C.C. Sabathia goes to the hill for the Bombers today - Sabathia worked 15.2 innings over his last two outings, allowing just five hits, four walks and one earned run. He's also struck out 19 along the way. Sabathia is 5-1 since the All-Star break with a 2.98 ERA, one full point lower than his ERA during the first half. Sabathia's ERA during night games is more than a point and a half lower than when he starts during the day. The Yankees are facing Vin Mazzaro today who has yielded at least seven hits in his last eight starts. Mazzaro has logged just one home win this season in eight stars while posting a 6.21 ERA. Opponents are hitting .321 off Vin Mazzaro this season - the Yankees are hitting .400 off Mazzaro this season. Let's talk a bit more about Sabathia. Over his past two starts, Sabathia has seemed to find a new gear, going 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA while striking out 19 and limiting opponents to a .100 batting average. On the season, opponents have batted just .235 off Sabathia. Sabathia was dominant at in his last outing - Thursday at Safeco Field. He's on fire. I'll look for the Yankees to bounce out of their two game losing streak with their ace tonight.

Final: Yankees 7 Athletics 2
