Soccer Goalie Scores

Standard Liege were on the edge of European elimination in Wednesday’s Champions League game against AZ, but a late goal from goalkeeper Sinan Bolat helped the Belgians to a 1-1 draw, sending them into the Europa League in the process.

“I looked to the bench to get permission to go forward and they all nodded to allow me to leave my goal,” Bolat told Goal.com after the match.

This one is worth turning up the volume on. Great play-by-play call.

Lo-Def in Louisiana

You can enjoy this video essentially without context, but here goes anyway: When a guy on Facebook offers to let “his FB friends” shoot up his TV if their team can beat the Redskins, you’d better believe that they’re gonna take you up on it. As the esteemed gentleman stepping out of his pickup says, “A bet’s a bet.” And you’ve never seen a jollier bunch of coonasses than these guys lining up to blow holes through a 60-inch flatscreen TV. Just when you think this video can’t get any better, it does! "I’m proud to call myself a Louisianian!”

Our red-hot Executive Service will release the December NBA Game of the Month tonight.

Saturday
Our Four Star College Football Game of the Month.
Last night, we released a two unit win on Oregon State and the Football Service remains on fire. We've lost just one of our last 16 selections that have been rated higher than a one star. That's amazing.

Sunday
The Four Star NFL Game of the Month.

NBA Game Of The Month

After an outstanding Thanksgiving Feast Week, our Executive Basketball Service remains on fire as we ran the table again last night. Our two plays were a 2 unit on UNLV and a one unit on Vanderbilt. Those two wins keep us perfect for the week.

Did you know that we've lost just one of our last 15 Executive Selections that have been rated higher than a one start play? How about that?

Tomorrow night, our NBA December Game of the Month.

The new week of Executive Football Service kicks off tonight with a couple college events and an NFL contest. Last week, our Executive Football Selections finished at 13-5 against the pointspread for the entire Feast week!

Great Basketball Week Going

Our Executive Basketball Service kept us red-hot by going perfect last night by winning both two-unit events. It's great to have a perfect week going here and we are looking at a very exciting slate of games this week.

This all comes on the heels of a very successful week last week in which the 2009 Thanksgiving Feast Week went 13-5 against the pointspread. Our plays rated higher than a one star came in for the Thanksgiving Feast at 9-1 against the pointspread.

We are looking to release three major basketball selections this week. The events we are looking at are the Non-Conference College Game of the Year, The College Game of the Month and the NBA Game of the Month.

I'll post more information about these major plays tomorrow as they become more clear.

Feast Continues 12-4 Against The Pointspread

Sunday - Two wins and a push with the shortened NFL card.

Three NFL games were contested Thursday and that left us with a short Sunday slate.

Early bettors won the Tennesse wager. Many sportsbooks have Tennessee listed as a push - at three points. This happens when a sportsbook typically chooses their closing line as the official spot. The closing line at some sportsbooks was at -3.5 although few bettors placed wagers against that very late line move.

This pointspread was at -2 or even -2.5 points at most major sportsbooks when I released it. Most services have called this a winner. (Thanks go out to a few members who immediately sent me an email telling me that they'd won the Tennessee game.) I'm always sensitive to reporting the most accurate outcome of the Executive Selections. I'm going to go out of my way not to take credit for the win here.

3 unit Tennessee PUSH
2 unit Seattle WIN
1 unit Pittsburgh WIN
That brings the NFL Executive Selections to 5-0 against the pointspread for the entire Thanksgiving Feast.

I'll do my best to make sure that you're on the correct side of the New England/New Orleans battle tonight.

Sports Monitor Executive Selections rated higher than one unit:
Eight wins - ZERO losses.

Sunday, November 29, 2009

Feast Continues 10-4 against the pointspread!

Saturday - Three big wins, two small losses.
The Feast continued doing what it is supposed to do.

3 unit College Game of the Week Tennessee WIN
2 unit South Carolina WIN
2 unit Utah WIN
1 unit UCLA LOSS
1 unit Oklahoma State LOSS

We went 3-0 with our NFL Executive Selections on Thanksgiving day- today's NFL card looks great too!

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Feast Continues 7-2 against the pointspread!

After going 3-1 on Thanksgiving, the Feast went big again with a 4-1 pointspread performance Friday.

2 unit Colorado WIN
2 unit Nevada WIN
1 unit Ohio WIN
1 unit Auburn WIN
1 unit Tulsa LOSS

I'm looking a fantastic slate Executive Selections for Saturday College Football!

Friday, November 27, 2009

Feast Continues

My Thanksgiving Executive Selections come in at three wins and one loss.

3 unit Dallas WIN
2 unit Green Bay WIN
1 unit Denver WIN
1 unit Texas LOSS

I'm looking to release five Executive Selections today.

Quality Start

My 29th professional basketball season got underway last night and I released one selection, a Four Star. The Four Star was Boston over the total. WINNER. I'm just saying.

The membership fee for service through the NCAA Final is only $895 - that's hundreds lower than the service fee we've had over the last 15 years. You can join us by selecting from the handy drop-down menu to the right. You'll receive our Executive Selections and all the plays from the services we monitor.

I've released three selections that were rated a Four or a Five Star the last four days - without any fanfare and won them all.

The World Series gets underway tonight and I'm looking forward to having another series win. I've correctly predicted the winners for all six MLB Postseason series so far this season.

Angels over Red Sox
Dodgers over Cardinals
Phillies over Rockies
Yankees over Twins
Phillies over Dodgers
Yankees over Angels

My side and total selections are 14-3 for the 2009 MLB playoffs for a total Postseason record of 20-3 for the Playoffs. I could not have asked for that good fortune. I'm happy to take credit for it though.

My World Series Selection went out to Private Play members this morning. Hopefully, these games will keep going our way. I'm betting they do.

Great Week Of Football - Eight Wins, Three Losses

It was great to put up a great football week this past weekend. We got out to a quality start on Wednesday with a one unit winner on UTEP. Our College Executive Selection came in at 5-2 against the pointspread and we won both top plays. Our top plays were a five star on UNLV and a four star on Air Force. Both were easy covers throughout. Of the two college losses, one was Michigan State who lost on the last second touchdown from Iowa State.

Our NFL Executive Selections came in at 3-1 against the pointspread. Sunday - Our three unit selection was Indianapolis, our two unit selection was Pittsburgh and the loss was a one unit play on the New York Giants. Last night on Monday Night Football, we closed out with a two unit play on Philadelphia.

Pigeon Covers Kickoff

I'm going to venture that most of you were surprised to see the Oakland Raiders beat the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend. However, you will probably be even more surprised that Raiders got a little help from a pigeon.

During the 4th quarter, the Raiders were kicking off after a Sebastian Janikowski field goal and a pigeon had wandered onto the field.

The even more surprising thing is that he helped the Raiders on that kickoff coverage by flying down the field with the kick-off team. Fox broadcasters Sam Rosen and Tim Ryan were in stitches in the booth after seeing the replay.

The pigeon was not available for comment after the game but I have feeling Al Davis was signing him to a three-year deal with a birdseed option for the fourth.

Vandal-ized

From the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper
MOSCOW, Idaho —

In the hangar-shaped Kibbie Dome, the Hawai'i football was disassembled.

The Warriors not only lost to rejuvenated Idaho — 35-23, in part because of DeMaundray Woolridge's four touchdown rushes — but they also lost wideout Rodney Bradley to a season-ending broken leg.

And, after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat, they appear to have lost their way.

"It's embarrassing to our program," said Blaze Soares, a senior linebacker. "Losing to these guys, it sucks. I never lost to them throughout my career. To lose to them my senior year, it's just an embarrassment."

The University Idaho was our Five Star College Football Game of the Year - our most important college football release of each season.

Two For Tuesday - Ball Handling

Here’s Dre’ Bly playing for the San Francisco 49ers jumping a route against Atlanta but dude decided to showboat before successfully eluding capture. With the Falcons comfortably ahead 35-10 and driving in the third quarter of their game on Sunday against the 49ers, San Francisco cornerback Dre’ Bly intercepted Matt Ryan for what looked like a momentum-turning play. But no. Watch Dre’ Bly cup his hand to his ear, a la NFL great and de facto NCAA agent Deion Sanders. Do you hear that, Dre’? That’s the sound of failure.

Here's how you handle a ball.

Yep, you'll be sharing this video.

Worst Fans In Sports

The city of Boston and its legions of allegedly fairweather sports fans received a long-overdue kick in the balls yesterday. Not long after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady underthrew his team to a loss in Denver, Boston Red Sox reliever Jonathan Papelbon was doing the exact same thing in Fenway Park. Or maybe it was just before. Anyway, The Los Angeles Angels – down to their last strike in the game WITH NOBODY ON BASE – toppled the BoSox to win their American League Division Series yesterday, 7-6, in front of a stunned crowd. It was my pleasure to see my Angels ruin the day for Boston whose fans forgot/failed to give their pitcher even a polite golf applause. Epic fail. Go Angels.

There are too many reason to dislike Boston, hell, Massachusetts for that matter. They absolutely skewered Bill Buckner for his fielding gaffe in Game 6 of the 1986 World series.

Buckner was a wonderful ballplayer and a really decent guy. He collected 2,715 hits in his career. In 1986, he was one of the best hitters on the team. He smacked 18 home runs, collected 102 RBI and was the club's top slugger in September.

Yet after he misplayed a Mookie Wilson ground ball in the final inning of that tragic Game 6 loss, Boston fans were so cruel to Buckner that he had to flee the city. Fans have recently tried to reinvent history and claim that they never blamed Buckner. Don't believe it. They crucified the guy. He had to move to Idaho, for God's Sake! Way to stick by your players, BoSox fans.

Yeah, baseball fans sure have been asked to eat a lot of crap over the past few years when it comes to the Red Sox faithful. Which was okay for a while. Some of these people had indeed suffered a lot before the 2004 postseason. But the grace period is now officially over. It's time to judge Boston Red Sox fans by the harsh light of day. They're terrible.

Now, the Boston fans can cheer for the Angels, who will beat the Evil Empire.

Fresno State versus Hawaii

One of my favorite places to see a college football game is at Fresno State. Bulldog Stadium is a real treat and I enjoy parking my car just a short walk away from the stadium on the lawn of a very friendly frat house. They always insist on doing a shot of tequila with their visitors. This frat house has all the residents put their sound system speakers facing outwards in the windows on game day. It's wild. The tailgating at a Fresno State game and the atmosphere is as enjoyable as you'll ever encounter. I watch this program closely and look forward to my next visit to Fresno.

Here's what I know about the 2009 Bulldogs. They took Wisconsin to two overtimes at Wisconsin. They looked decent against 10th ranked Boise State while out rushing and out gaining the Broncos. They held onto the ball for three quarters against Cincinnati and managed to lose that game. They want a win tonight and they want a convincing win.

I'm looking for Fresno's Ryan Mathews to run all over the field tonight. Matthews ranks second in the nation with an average of 148 yards per game and is registering close to seven yards per carry. Hawaii allowed 352 yards rushing last week in a 27-6 loss to Louisiana Tech and is ranked 102nd (out of 120 teams) nationally in run defense. The Warriors' usually potent pass offense was limp last week, too. Hawaii failed to produce a touchdown for the first time in 62 games. Meanwhile - things got worse. Hawaii will be without their star Quarterback Greg Alexander. Hawaii will be using their third string quarterback since their 2nd string fractured a finger. So, in comes Bryant Moniz a native Hawaiian and former quarterback at Fresno City College. Basically, a junior college RESERVE walk on quarterback. In 2007, Moniz was taking backup snaps behind heralded but troubled (think criminal) transfer Derek Shaw at Fresno City College. Then just weeks before the season opener, Shaw was suspended for walking out of practice, and Moniz was thrust into the starting role. Moniz left Fresno City after one year and moved back to the island, where he enrolled in a local community college but didn't play football last season. Yep - A junior college backup. Now, he's taking snaps for Hawaii. Fresno State will be going after him.

Hawaii won in overtime at Fresno last year in a very bitter contest and I'll expect Fresno State to return the favor. I'm betting on Fresno State to win and cover against a short-handed Hawaii squad.

Fresno State -10.5
over
Hawaii

Editor Note: Sunday 5:20 am

Final Score

Fresno State 42
Hawaii 17

...and it wasn't even that close. Fresno State took a 42-3 lead into the fourth quarter before calling off the Bulldogs.

Sports Monitor's Executive Selections went 7-2 against the pointspread for the college week and Fresno State was the highest rated play I released to the members - a Four unit win.

I'm not sure how many other professional handicappers looked into the background of Hawaii's starting quarterback to the degree I did. Makes it look easy, doesn't it? Wish it was that easy every week.

You got it free here, just by looking in. How about that?

Spray Hitting To All Fields

If you've missed this:
The United Football League season opener is tonight.

The Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League have been installed as a 7-point favorite against the California Redwoods in their inaugural game Thursday at Sam Boyd Stadium, according to odds at the Las Vegas Hilton sports book. If you're curious - good seats are still available.

The game is televised by VERSUS. Beginning October 8, VERSUS will bring viewers a UFL Game of the Week leading up to the UFL Championship game on November 27. How about that?

The Locos are -300 on the money line, and the game has a total of 40 points. In first-half wagering, the Locos are a 4-point favorite and the over/under is 20 points.

In a Saturday UFL game, the Florida Tuskers are a 4 point favorite against the New York Sentinels (-175 on the money line) in a game with an total of 40. In first-half wagering, it's the Tuskers -2.5 and an over/under of 20, according to Hilton lines.

Another wild finish to a high school football game.
Memo to defense - It's a live ball.

.............................................................................
Las Vegas Locomotives -7 points
over
California Redwoods

I was comped into this event - still, that did not tempt me to go, but after further review, I'm curious to see the spectacle - a new league --- so, of course, I had to make a wager on it. So, I looked into this contest and found something so that I could rationalize the wager to myself.

Here's my angle. Former NFL coach Dennis Green is coaching the California Redwoods -- and if that's not reason enough... The California Redwoods are owned by Paul Pelosi. Yep, that Paul Pelosi, as in Mister Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives. I'm looking for the Jim Fassel coached Las Vegas Loco's and quarterback J.P. Losman to win by two touchdowns over California here in Las Vegas tonight. Locomotives coach Jim Fassel wants to showcase Losman's talent and experience and play the sort of exciting, wide-open offense that Fassel oversaw when he coached John Elway at Stanford.

Gunslinger Jeans

I'm pretty sure that most of you are completely Brett Favre'd out from the Vikings Monday night win. However, ESPN Sportsnation decided to dedicate the entire day to mister Favre and break a world record of the most times Brett Favre was said during an hour show.

One of the skits was a parody of Brett Favre's Wrangler jeans commercials (seen below) called "Gunslinger Jeans" where Sportsnation host Michelle Beadle showed us that anyone can play like Brett Favre.

Well, at least, get sacked like Favre.

Betting On Mark Martin

There's a bit of everything going on in the wide world of sports today. The National Hockey League is taking the day off ( yep, the 2009-10 season is underway) and NASCAR is in the middle of their playoffs. That's got some of my attention today.

Mark Martin won this race in 2005 and he's got the best piece under him in years. That win was in a Roush machine Today, Mark Martin takes to the track with Hendrick Motorsports power. Mark Martin's team has brought the same car (chassis No. 527) that went to Victory Lane at Darlington and Chicagoland.

Mark Martin is one of the top performers on similar tracks this season. Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch and Mark Martin are the only drivers that have led more than 200 laps on 1.5-mile tracks. Based off 1.5-mile tracks: Las Vegas, Atlanta, Texas, Lowe's and Chicago.

Mark had an awesome Happy Hour practice when he posted the second fastest times on the track finishing just behind team mate Jimmy Johnson. Then, Mark went out and posted a lightening fast qualifying time and took the pole. His car's bad fast and I'll look for him to win the race and I'm going to bet on Mark Martin against any driver that he's matched up against on the betting matrix today.

The Price Chopper 400 will take the green flag on Sunday at 2:15 pm (ET).

My other head-to-head matchup wagers are:
T STEWART over G BIFFLE
JP MONTOYA over B VICKERS
M KENSETH over K HARVICK
M KENSETH over K KAHNE
T STEWART over B VICKERS
